久しぶり~

November 27, 2009

Yeah that right there is Japanese motherfuckers, BOOYAH! Yeah so lately I’ve just been way too lazy to write anything on the blog, but I figured I might be able to scribble something down today, although it’s not so much actual scribbling since I’m on a computer… but yeah.
So today I’ve been out hunting paper for my essay on mobilephone cameras that I have to send to the school on Tokyo, apparently however the type of paper I’m looking for with them big squares that japanese letters actually fit in are only available at elementary schools or schools for the “privileged” or “special” or whatever the hell the proper term for retards is these days. So fuck it, them japs will have to be happy with plain papers.
What else.. well I’ve been trying to prepare all the forms, application papers and whatnot necessary but somehow they keep stacking up on me like they’re  fucking reproducing or something, I swear everytime I go through my files I’m afraid I’ll end up witnessing the first paper on paper sex act, like what the fuck? But eventually I’ll be able to get all my shit together and send the papers off to Japoonland but the more and more I think about it the more I find myself asking “why do you want to go back?”.. and sometimes I find the answer “simply because I liked it there” to be fulfilling and sometimes it just isn’t. This might actually be one of those days, but perhaps that’s just because I was told by a clerk today that the paper I am looking for is for stupid kids who can’t write well enough to fit the letters into the “normal size” squares.  Bitch…

Musicwize I haven’t been listening to that much new stuff that I feel like you guys REALLY should listen to, since we are on the subject of Japoonland I figured I might introduce you to some of the better artists. Japanese mainstream music is probably the worse thing I’ve ever listened to, just walk in to any foodjoint or smaller store in Japan or just turn on the nearest radio and I swear you will be bleeding from your ears because the little smurfs that are in your head making your body work will be literally stabbing your brain while being exposed to this bullcrap called music (yes there are smurfs in your brain making your body work…).
But there is great music aswell, one of my favorite artists is the jazz-fusion hiphop DJ, Nujabes.
Not just because he lays down beats that are borderline cheezy jazz’ish like but because he does it well, and also because he works on and off with my favorite hiphop label QN5, which is off the wall balls through the roof awesome.

Here he is collaborating with Substantial from QN5

Here is Lady Brown with Cise Starr, a relatively unknown guy who has a great flow that goes well with the smooth beats that nujabes brings.

I’d also like you to listen to a band called Ice Cream Shout where one of my close friends and former roomie plays in. You can check them out on their myspace page and also their blog (they tend to write in Japanese but there are also some posts in English).
One of the founding members of the band is a Japense girl named Mika who got interviewed by Swedish radio, P3 pop. She discusses her background and talks a little bit about the time she spend studying in Sweden. They also talk about Ice Cream Shout’s cover of the Swedish band Name the Pet’s song London which is available on Name the Pet’s debut album as a sidetrack. Anyway Chris if you are reading this I hope you guys will be playing in Sweden sometime soon and if not I will make sure to see you play in Japan! And I can’t stress it enough, if you guys ever need a cameraman I’m your go-to-guy!

PEACE!
